Just to get things started, the most obvious poll question of all. My personal favorite, as anyone who knows me knows very well, is Andrew Lloyd Webber's stage show, followed by the Leroux novel and the Charles Dance miniseries.

Oh, I hope you see the stage show sometime soon, it's so wonderful! Kicks the movie's butt, lol.
Ooh, I've never seen the Claude Raines film. What did you think of it?

The movie was pretty good , but even though he played "The Phantom" he didnt' have a lot of lines in the movie..in my opinion I thought his talent was wasted also it's not Christine Daae..it's Christine Dubois

One more thing I forgot to add I did see the Charles Dance miniseries on DVD...at the time I thought it was ok then later I thought the Phantom was a bit wimpy, but that is just my opinion

Well he is a very "tame" Phantom, especially when compared to Leroux!Erik, but I love him anyway. And his speaking voice is to die for. He could read me the phone book and I'd swoon, lol.

My favorite version is the Leroux version, w/ the 1925 version right after. I also loved the ALW and, Susan Kay version though.

Even though the 2004 movie i picked as my fave (not too popular) I did love the silent movie and I find myself watching that multiple times if I want to watch a movie and don't have too much time

I love Lon Chaney's portrayal in the silent film, he's amazing. And this is really random, but I had a dream last night that I saw the Claude Raines version. But in my dream it was really twisted, and it was called "Phantom of the Prairie" or something, because it was set out in the desert. But I remember, in my dream, thinking that I was going to come back and tell you that I saw the Claude Raines version.

*shrugs* My mind does odd things when I'm asleep.
There was also some weird thing about Erik turning out to be a woman...or maybe he was gay and in love with Raoul...I don't really remember, but I know that it turned out really odd somehow, and that it wasn't the usual love triangle. LOL

Erik gay? sounds like a nightmare to me Lol, I do find it a nightmare too. Yet to E/N or E/R shippers it's a dream-come-true.
