I haven't seen the stage version but have viewed several pics of Meg in her masq costume. I don't know if my opinion is the majority, but I prefer the new movie costume more. Just because except for near the end of the movie I'm not used to seeing Meg dressed in "boy's" clothers although Jennifer Ellison does look nice in "Erik's" shirt and black pants...I just prefer Meg wearing something feminine in Masq ...I mean in the movie weren't all the women in the main ballroom wearing dresses or gowns of some sort?

I prefer the stage show costume myself, because I think it's cute, but I still have no idea what she's supposed to be. I started a topic about it on a forum awhile ago, and nobody had any idea. But in the stage show, they're all wearing crazy costumes, so Meg's fits right in.
Jen looks pretty in the movie!Masquerade dress--then again, she's always pretty--but I don't like how it seems to hang off her boobs. It looks like it's clinging to them for dear life! Aside from that, I think it was pretty too, and I like the little wings. ^_^

Exactly I haven't seen the stage show btw here is one pic of Meg from the German stage in masq costume(Colby Thomas is Christine)http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v211/Cressida/Meg%20Giry/hamburg02.jpg
Although her dress in the movie could have been a bit more conservative...some of the others did wear weird costumes, but I guess they wanted to put Meg in something more feminine

I think they made some odd decisions with movie!Masquerade. Like you said, some of them were in weird costumes, but then others were in fairly normal dresses. I wish they were all more out there, myself. And more colorful. But then I'm extremely biased to the stage show, of course.
And thanks for posting that pic; I had it on my computer, but I completely forgot that it wasn't in the gallery yet.

I had several pics not in the gallery. Actually I have more pics of the movie dress , but I guess not seeing the stage I'm not used to her stage costume yet...guess I will have to see it. It will probably fit in more with the stage than the movie itself.

I think that it's rather true that the movie costume looks prettier than the stage costume. Though as usual, the stage costume is more colorful, yet not so pretty, so anyhow the movie costume wins.
Though Meg, being Meg, looks beautiful in *any* costume, worn by *any* actress.

I guess for right how I will always prefer the dress in Masq although I do think maybe it was a bit low cut but so was Christine's

I've viewed the stage costume more now, and I have to say it's terribly cute, and I've just kind of grown to it now so I'm re-picking, and choosing that one for now, movie was fancy but, stage is just... gorgeous and colorful.

Well seeing her on stage is very different she probably looks better live or in action wearing stage than in stills...the movie doesn't have to do that..very pretty stills

Well...Meg's stage Masquerade costume is fantastic (all her costumes are fantastic, really)- it looks really cute in all the images I've seen, and it fits in wonderfully with the other Masq. costumes onstage, but I must say I prefer her movie costume. The white gown is lovely and very feminine, almost Cinderella-esque, fitting for her character, I think. Also, as Opera Angel said in the original post, all the women in the ballroom were wearing gowns and fancy dresses, so it fits in there. Plus, it makes her look like an angel .

Personally I do prefer Meg's stage costume.

I think she's supposed to be a Victorian jockey or something of the like in the stage production (her costume was awesome!!) As for her movie costume, there have been speculations as to if she's a dove or a swan, I think she's a dove though, to show the stark contrast between herself and Erik's Red Death costume. Making her look incredibly innocent and meek compared to the harsh red and gold. Or at least that's my opinion anyway.
