Okay, so, backstory to this. Meg and Erik have been friends for a long time, she's loved/loves him the entire time. She's angry with him for loving Christine and ignoring her, and so she leaves him finally. Erik believes he doesn't need Meg at all in his life, but soon realizes he's wrong. He doesn't see her for a long time (let's say, six months, that's a fair amount of time) and he finally does catch a glimpse of her, what they say is very curt, polite, short. (shut up I'm writing this as I go!!) Erik finds how important she is to him, and how he's never really let her go. It's called
