I was thinking about this as I read phanphic the other day and I noticed that people tend to blur the lines most with Meg when it comes to who she is. She retains her spunk from Leroux and beauty from Webber. But I think the lines have become so blurred when it comes to her character that people have a distorted view of our beloved ballerina. For example, someone will say it's Leroux based, but their Meg will be blonde and pretty, which is not Leroux-based at all. Other times, someone will be writing a Webber-based phic, but Meg is far too snarky to be the ALW version of her. So if you had to choose, which would you rather read?

I really can't choose (and I tried, I swear), because I always write my Meg to be a mix of both, or I pick one based on my mood. I like writing a Meg who has, like you said, Leroux!Meg's personality and Webber!Meg's looks. I also like writing a straight Leroux!Meg, complete with poor little skin stretched over poor little bones. It really just depends on what mood I'm in when I put pen to paper. (Or finger to keyboard.)
As for what I like to read, I'm fairly open to either interpretation of Meg (or a mix of both), as long as the author doesn't make her some stupid ditz or a similar cliche. If it's well-written and interesting, I'm happy to read Leroux!, Webber!, or hybrid!Meg.
If I ABSOLUTELY had to pick one I'd go with Leroux!Meg for the personality.

I like the Leroux Meg best, but I like to mix her, just a little with the stage version, I keep her ugly though...(sorry Meg) not hidious or anything, just very, very, very plain and skinny. But I think it's her talant that would make her beautiful. I prefer her to be a stark contrast with Christine, that's how Leroux wrote it after all. I never write a completely straight Leroux Meg (I can't handle it, my brain wants to die after one paragraph) but I try to keep her as canon as possible.

I prefer a mixed Meg. I like Meg's image in Webber , but Leroux really did't delve into her character that much , but neither did Webber. She did have that one extra scene in the movie, but that was it. I'm not against a dark haired Meg but I really can't see Leroux Meg with Leroux Erik although I can see Webber Meg with Leroux Erik

I'm thinking that I prefer Leroux Meg/Webber Erik and Leroux Erik/Webber Meg. Can we do that?
