Hey guys! (Particularly all you writers out there ) When writing fanfiction, or reading fanfiction, or just thinking about Meg in general terms, how would do you picture her? Characterize her? Do you picture her as some scared, tentative ballerina who is deathly afraid of Erik to the point where she faints at the mere mention his name? Or do you see her as brave and rather forward with her feelings? Or perhaps you view her as a jealous bystander who holds a measure of anger towards Christine for constantly taking the spotlight while she herself is left waiting in the wings? Or a dreamy-eyed girl with a fancy for wealth and popularity? Either way, I would love to know your opinions about her and what she is like as a person. In the three main versions--or the most popular, I should say--the ALW stage musical, the 2004 movie, and the novel, Meg's character isn't really expanded upon (in my opinion), and her actions and motives appear very vague, which makes her personality quite blurry and somewhat hard to see. It is in this way, I believe, that you could pretty much make her character and overall personality anything you like--and it leaves tons of room for open characterization. What do you guys think? Any thoughts?

I always saw Meg having kind of mixed feelings about the Opera Ghost. Other than Mme Giry I think Meg might know a little more than she lets on or at least believes that her mother doesn't tell her anything which she still fears him, but I always thought she was slightly fascinated by him, but not to the point of being attracted to him in any way.

A very nice take, Opera Angel I agree! I also see her as being particularly fascinated with him--albeit a little afraid.

Are we talking Meg in general or Meg by specific authors?
Meg is definitely a character that I wish was explained more. Leroux gave her the most spotlight, but she is so different from ALW!Meg that it is almost hard to compare.
Leroux!Meg, in my opinion, is incredibly protective of Erik. When prompted for information by the ballet rats, she is hesitant in answering. Even at a young age she realizes the importance of keeping Erik's secret. I think she is thrilled at knowing something about someone so mysterious when few others know the truth. Her "obsession" with him is an innocent infatuation whereas in ALW's POTO, one can draw lines to Meg being attracted to him.
