Sorry about the double post but I just had to... Edit: OMG! Andrew Lloyd Webber is sad to announce that Otto, his Turkish Van cat, was this morning killed on the road outside the family home in Berkshire.
Otto joined the Lloyd Webbers as a tiny kitten in January this year and has been a much-loved addition to the family.
Andrew Lloyd Webber said: "I am devastated by the needless death of Otto. He was a magnificent cat, unbelievably affectionate and without doubt the most individual character of any cat I have ever known. He was loved by all the family, particularly the children. Otto‘s death reinforces my long-held belief that the speed limits on our country roads are far too high. Speed limits should be reduced to help prevent further deaths, of both humans and animals. Otto was killed at a crossing point on the road used by the many walkers who follow local footpaths. A number of animals have been killed there in the last few months and it is only a matter of time before a walker or child is killed".
Otto attracted a great deal of attention during his short life. Earlier this year he deleted the score to the Phantom sequel from Andrew Lloyd Webber‘s digital Clavinova. Andrew Lloyd Webber said he would dedicate what he remembers of the score to Otto. Video of Otto: www.andrewlloydwebber.com/sections/news/newsdb.php?article=41The real Otto looks like my cat...

Oh, I would love to help with an E/M screenplay-- sign me up!
I read the prolouge to the Phantom of Manhattan and was absolutely furious. I almost got sick from rage. His dismissal of the original really angers me, his bashing of the Persian (who, according to Susan Kay and Gaston Leroux, is awesome), and his arrogant attitude about what is "true" and what is "not".... And he hero worships ALW. Perhaps they are in cahoots with one another or something, because his "Ode to Andrew" seems suck-up-ish to me.
I read a few other bits and found myself irritated with the plot and the characters. Also, what's up with that guy being called "Darius"? That was the name of the Persian's servant (in Leroux and Kay) and I may or may not have been the only one confused by this new Darius. I was like "What's Nadir's servant doing in New York? What's he doing in this novel? I thought Leroux was "an idiot". You can't steal the characters that are solely his and transplant them, into your musical based book which Leroux-bashes!"
Poor Otto! He was such a smart cat, willing to delete the PoM score... He shall be remembered by phans as a hero.

I was just coming to post that terrible news about Otto. It's so sad. It's sad when any pet dies, of course, so I feel really bad for Lord Andy and his family since they obviously loved him. But I also fear that our fandom is doomed for good now, without Otto the wonder cat to rescue us all.

Oh gosh... Katherine Jenkins set to star in The Phantom of the Opera sequel
Stunning opera singer Katherine Jenkins has caught the eye of impresario Andrew Lloyd Webber.
He wants to cast the 27-year-old mezzo soprano in his eagerly awaited sequel to The Phantom Of The Opera.
Katherine met the composer at the opening party for the Joseph musical, where they were introduced by Dr Who actor John Barrowman.
"Andrew explained that he was writing the follow-up and wanted Katherine and John to star in it," sources revealed.
"Andrew was transfixed by Katherine and he noticed the chemistry between her and John. He even had pictures taken of them together and told them, "That's it, I have my two romantic leads."
It might be some time before we see the pair on stage, however.
It has been reported that production has been delayed after Andrew's sixth-month-old kitten Otto jumped on to his computer and deleted all of the composer's work on the new show. For those who don't know, Katherine Jenkins is, much like Charlotte Church or Sarah Brightman, one of those girls who sing operatic arias and are hailed as amazing opera singers, despite NOT being actual opera singers. I certainly don't think she's horrible, but she wouldn't be my first choice for Christine...especially since she's a MEZZO-SOPRANO. What the heck is up with that choice? Anyhow, here official site (with sound clips) is here. I like John Barrowman though, although he does have more a Raoul voice to me. Maybe he'll be cast as Raoul? *shrugs* Whatever, he has a beautiful voice. And he's hot, which doesn't hurt anything.

If I'm not mistaken, having children can lower your vocal range. I know pregnancy can increase it, but damage it. We were having a discussion about voice changes on another Phantom site and it came up. *shrug*
As to the NO RAOUL part, I'm frustrated. I mean, unless they show his castration scene (where he gets shot), there is no Raoul. And I mean, what's he going to sing, "Oh! Oh my friggin' God!" as he grabs his crotch and falls to the floor? Raoul and Chrisitne are supposed to live happily ever after-- Leroux intended it. But Forsyth screwed that up majorly by neutering Raoul, impregnating Christine with Erik's son, and writing crappy E/C phanphic.
Sorry. I'm cynical and have been all week. Forsyth seemed like a good person to be witchy about.

That is just wrong I have nothing against pairing Erik and Christine considering that it is done right, but doing it this way is just awful...there are much better E/C fanfics out there that aren't that bad...what was this book written for...why was it written at all..? there is no sequel to speak of...in the play Christine had died..the whole story was about memories remember the beginning was in the future

And I mean, what's he going to sing, "Oh! Oh my friggin' God!" as he grabs his crotch and falls to the floor? I would pay so much money to see that musical, I seriously would. But in all honestly, I completely agree with you all. I really would love for Andy to have another big hit, but this is not going to end that way. How on earth can he possibly think this is a good idea? I can't even wrap my mind around some of the decisions he's made in the last few years...

I made this, inspired by everyone's thoughts on Raoul and the Forsyth-based sequel.

Thanks. I'm gonna use it as my banner on another site where support for the Forsyth Musical is split.

There's actually support for it somewhere? I thought everybody but ALW himself was against this. What good do they have to say about the idea?
