What name do you think Webber will choose as a name? The Phantom of Manhattan? The Phantom of Coney Island? God forbid..The Phantom of the Opera II?
I know that we're all pretty against it but do you think other phans around the world will embrace it with an open mind or reject it without seeing it?
From what people are saying on other boards I'd say that the Phan Community is split. Some of the extreme Leroux Purists are going absolutely crazy and are practically threatening to burn down Her Majesty's. Others are saying that they're hesitant but curious and will most likely give it a try.

Well. I'm a member of a large POTO community (The Phantom's Opera, TPO) and the opinion seems to be split between the phans and the phangirls. Considering that the site is truly international, I think it's a fair representation
The phans don't like the idea of a sequel and fear corruption of the phandom. Phans are hesitent and divided further into Leroux Purists, musical phans, Kay phans.... But most of them agree that a second musical is a bad idea.
The phangirls are holding out for a Gerard Butler reprise and go all swoon-y over the idea that Erik isn't dead and is going to be in America (!1!!!!111!).
That's the impression I'm getting. Phans and hormonally charged phangirls with poor typing ability against each other over the Forsyth sequel.

I repeat I will not see it..no matter who is in it..gah...I think the only ones who will see it are the real crazy Christine/Erik phans who don't care how Christine and Erik get together just that they do...I do like C/E but only if done right in phanfics! not in a movie or play otherwise!

Christine married Raoul became a Viscountess had children and then died many years later...end of story..Phantom of Manhattan should never have existed in the first place

R/C!  I completely agree with everything you guys have been saying, of course. Having Erik and Christine suddenly together again totally ruins the point. >_> In case you guys haven't heard, Glenn Slater has been tapped to write the lyrics for PoM. It was reported at first that it was Tim Rice, but that turned out to be a total fabrication. I was shocked by that one too, since it didn't seem like to me that Rice would get anywhere near this bomb of a project... Oh, and ALW is going to be the mentor next week on American Idol, so we'll probably hear something about PoM then... |
