Yet another reason for me to not watch American Idol (I used to watch the tryouts, but now I stay away from it altogether) I'm glad Tim Rice said no...that would have been awful

I think we owe Tim Rice a round of applause for not getting involved in this garbage... *claps loudly* Way to save your career, man.
Do you think PoM will have an affect on POTO? If so, explain.

I'm terrified that it will. Severeal fans on other boards have speculated that POTO might close in order to make way for or bring attention to PoM. If it does, I will have a heart attack and die.

When whatever place shows this travesty realizes that they will lose money with such a rotten turnout...they will close it forever and pring back POTO that is just my theory

I think just the opposite. It costs too much time and money to close a show and then re-open it. Plus its reputation will have been slaughtered already.

I doubt they would actually stop the longest running show on Broadway...and I don't think POM will affect POTO's reputation since the two stories have nothing really in common other than destroying all the characters that come back

I'm still don't know whether or not they'd actually close it, but I definitely agree with phantomphreak4life that POTO's reputation will be all but destroyed. The whole fandom will be a laughingstock right along with the composer.

Well with Poto's reputation I think it coudl do fine on its own just too bad ALW decided to do what should have been a nonexistent sequel... Well at least we still have the silent flick and the original novel.. no one would associate PoM with Gaston Leroux or Lon Chaney Sr. Anyone who did should be shot

Updates: The title of the musical is now Phantom: Once Upon Another Time. Excuse me while I go laugh myself into a freaking coma. The first act will be performed at ALW's Sydmonton Festival next month with I'd Do Anything contestant Rachel Tucker singing the role of Meg Giry. ( Source.)

You know what Phantomgirl your icon seems fitting for this topic as in "It's over now"

How true! I find that both sad and kind of hilarious in a twisted way.

Poor GastonLeroux I bet he never saw this coming..didn't Erik die and Christine also in the original novel...she married Raoul and had children and died in her 60s no sequel...I doubt even Christine/Erik phans who have a brain would like this

Leroux is probably turning over in his grave right now. After all that he did for ALW (indirectly), this is how Lord Andy repays him?? This makes me sick to my stomach.
