I was just wondering if anyone knew where to find good E/M phanfics. The only place I know is fanfiction.net and I think I've read all of those phics twice over. ;D

Firstly, welcome to the board Ria! Secondly, other than FF.net I don't know of any good places for E/M fanfiction. Well, sometimes there's stuff posted at the E/M LJ community, but most of it is at FF.net too. I really need to hurry and get the site updated so I can get some links to new stories.

I dont' know if I mentioned this, but I did set up a fanfiction account with all my phan poetry (don't write stories sorry) Some are E/M poems while others are just my thoughts. In case you need the link to all my poems here it is: www.fanfiction.net/~christineoperaangelThought it'd be helpful when you get around to updating the phanfiction links.

Pet-peeves for Erik/Meg...probably my biggest would be out of canon Erik i.e. cuddly Erik or sword-fighting Meg. That's just me though.

I have many pet-peeves when it comes to E/M fanfiction. My biggest one is that so many E/M stories have it happen so fast, too fast. Like, Christine disappears, Erik sees Meg, BOOM! They're in love. I hate that, it's completely unrealistic.
I also personally hate stories in which Meg becomes Erik's new pupil. Even if Meg could sing opera - which is a pretty ridiculous idea, considering she's been dancing, not singing, her entire life - Erik wouldn't just jump in with a new student.

Yeah, that's another kicker, pupil!Meg and teacher!Erik. Three chapters into the story, they're flirting and making out behind the curtains. Oh, I have another, where everyone loves Erik at the opera house. Example:
Meg: Have you seen Erik?
Random stagehand: Why no I haven't, did you check for him in the lair? WTFLIP?! I thought he was hated, you know, they wanted to KILL HIM, but now it's okay, because he loves Meg. Thank goodness. Almost had to hang him there for a minute. Last pet-peeve: modern speech in period fics.
"Geeze buddy, are you ok?" IS NOT GOOD. I am so sick of seeing "ok" "geeze" "Buddy" and random french inserts to a badly phrased sentence.
Okay, so that last one isn't really an Erik/Meg pet-peeve, but you see it often in the fandom writings.

Haha, I completely know what you mean about the modern speech! I read a phic once in which Christine called Erik "baby". Yeeeuuuchh!
Let's see, what are some of my others when it comes specifically to E/M stories? Personally - and I realize this is a highly personal thing and quite a few people will probably disagree - I don't care for warm and fuzzy endings. I hate it when stories end with Meg and Erik living in a pretty little house with many pretty little babies and they all sing and dance together and blah blah blah. As much as I like the idea of Erik having some happiness, especially with Meg, I don't think Erik would ever have that sort of happy life. If they were to ever be a couple, Meg would be the one to have to compromise her life to be with him; if Erik was hated by society while he was in love with Christine, why would that change when he was in love with Meg? People would still fear him and hate him, and he would still be a wanted man.

THANK YOU!!!!! Someone finally understands that not all their endings can end happily ever after. Of course I am the biggest hopeless romantic, i mean 2 day at the beach i was quoting lines from The Notebook, Titanic, and A Walk to Remember, anyways srry 4 my ranting, but when I wrote my story I wanted it 2 be different from all the other Meg/Erik stories. I wanted it 2 end where love couldn't conquer anything and that sometimes the things we want the most will always be out of our reach.

I totally agree. Meg and Erik can be happy, but no body can get everything. Real life isn't that way,

Yay, it's so nice to see that some of you agree! It just bugs me so much when I come across an E/M phic that's really good...and then it ends with some huge, fairytale wedding. Or they become some prominent couple in Parisian society; the prima ballerina and her composer husband. Everytime I read those things I'm like, Um, don't you remember when everybody was singing "Track down this murderer, he must be found"? It's not like people would just let it all go. I mean, in the novel and the stage show he kills people and stalks people, and in the 2004 movie (off of which most phics are based these days) he burns down the entire opera house. Those aren't things society would forgive.
