Sadie,
I anticipate the release of the second novel. Hopefully by the time it is released, I will have read the first one already.
I like the news that father issues will play into the second novel. Always such interesting stories. Such tales always really interest me, because it creates interesting complications with the characters. For example, Frankenstein's Creation hated his creator with all his heart, yet he could never bring himself to simple murder him. When Victor did die, his creation wept for him. Such interesting dynamics always leave me thinking, even long after I've finished reading.
Anyway, I'll keep a lookout for the "His Father's Eyes" online, and if I should infact find it, I'll put the link up here, and make things a little easier. I always thought it was rather interesting that both Erik and the Frankenstein Creation had those golden eyes.

Mr. Destler,
If you find the story online, please do send me the link. I'd be very interested in reading it. My second novel is about "fathers," but it's not the main focus of the novel. My husband says that the idea of fathers is something that hovers over the second one, and the issue does come up. A lot of other things of course are at stake as well.
Basically the novel is structured on the journey of the hero. It's very involved with giving Erik the possibility of choice. Unlike the first one, in which the emotional ties between Erik and Christine have to be redefined, the second one focuses on whether or not the relationship between Erik and Meg can be successful. I think those who have always been interested in the Meg/Erik relationship will find it exciting.
Cheers, Sadie

Every 1 have you heard!? Sadie Montgomery has released her sequel to The Phoenix of the Opera! YESS!!!!!! You can buy it on iUniverse.com and she said that it will be coming to barnesandnoble.com and amazon.com I think, but 4 sure its on iUniverse.com! I am going 2 try 2 buy my copy tomorrow. Here is the summary: Having fled the only world he has ever known, can the Phantom return Meg's love? And can Meg reveal the man within the monster?
Book Description Erik, the Phantom of the Opera, has escaped the hangman's noose and fled Paris for Italy with his bride, Meg. But the Phantom cannot so easily escape the demons that haunt him. Self-doubt and despair lead to a quarrel with Meg, who injures herself running from him. Despite his tender ministrations, when she comes to, Meg screams upon seeing the Phantom unmasked. Erik flees. The Phantom's journey takes him back to the sordid carnival—and the trauma—of his youth, to the luxurious home of the cruel and decadent nobleman Don Ponzio and his desperate and beautiful wife Lucianna, and to a battle between the man and the monster within. While Erik finds himself trapped in a complex weave of seduction and violence, Meg, recovered from her injury, is beset by suitors, one of whom is the handsome yet ominous Giovanni. But Meg longs for one man only. Will she draw Erik back to her? Can she inspire the Phantom to love himself and her enough to create a life together? Will Giovanni prove an obstacle to their happiness? Out of the Darkness continues the story of Sadie Montgomery's dark hero, his beloved Meg, and their stalwart friends Raoul and Christine.

Ooh, it's out already? Awesome! Thanks for posting that, phantomluver!
And I love the cover of this one. The black/blue color scheme is very Phantom-y, very appealing.

I read the excerpt and was quite pleased with what I saw, the only part that seemed odd to me was when the little Inn-mob banged on Meg and Erik's door, wanting to know of Meg's security. It seemed a little forced on for us to understand that Erik thinks he's a monster. I did like the part when he rode off and Meg saw him, that was really well done.

Wow, you guys are really on the ball. I had begun to think no one was coming to this thread anymore since I put my two cents in. I just decided to drop by to announce that the second novel is up and available at iUniverse, but you've beaten me to the punch. I'm glad that word is spreading. Thanks, Phantomluver4ever1. ;D I'd be thrilled to pick up new readers, so Midnightangel, let the shopping begin! Phantomgirl110, good to see you're here and find you excited! I'm excited, but my knees are knocking so badly it's hard to enjoy it. Little Giry, I'm glad that you were fairly positive about the preview available at iUniverse. If you notice the epigraph to the novel is from Frankenstein. The motif of the monster follows Erik throughout this quest saga, hence "The Phantom's Journey." It's rather dark at times and deals with mature themes. I hope it's not too heavy-handed. The novel is a bit over the top, but then the story of a deformed genius who's also sexy and lives under an opera house isn't your normal, everyday kind of story. Anyway, I'm at your mercies! I intend to keep a low profile so you can talk freely. If you want to contact me, you can always find me at myspace. Cheers, Sadie

Everyone writes a different Phantom, Gaston Leroux gave us the original madman, ALW gave us a slightly-less mad version, and movies since have given us their own versions. I've always liked the original myself, with a touch of sanity . As for heavy-handed, it all depends on how you write Erik, and, for me personally, how the other characters are. I think your stories are a bit dark, but you keep the theme well in hand, and that's definitly vital for a series. I've read books that I forget what the book is about because it veers so off-track. The title clearly states Erik is trying to heal, and Meg is trying to help. Also what I liked in the excerpt was that Meg made an effort to touch his hand, sit beside him, make an effort to show him she cared, and wasn't afraid of him. The lack of knowing what to say was a fantastic idea as well.

Little Giry, I'm glad the subtle markers caught your attention and that you liked the way Meg is trying to reach out to Erik. Nothing is going to be easy! Meg grows quite a bit in this novel, and some of that growth has to be done alone. The novel shifts through various stages, the last of which depends a good deal on Meg's ability to stand up to Erik. There are also several real and figurative journeys in the novel, the main one of which happens in the first half to two-thirds of the novel and involves mostly Erik. The novel goes through about 4 movements, each one a sort of stage in the development of the characters, a set of trials or obstacles to be met and overcome. I'm trying not to give anything away and probably not making much sense doing so. I'd best just keep mum and get out of your way! Cheers, Sadie

Awww, that was a great video! Thanks for posting the link, I'm really glad you did (especially since I never check Google video for anything, I always check YouTube).
I've finally whittled down my to-be-read list, so I hope to get both of your novels as soon as I can now. ^_^
