I think it's about time a novel was published for this pairing!
So many authors have tried their hand at Erik/Christine, claiming anything else would be contradicting the source material.
Except in the source material, and all following versions, Christine chose RAOUL. Not Erik! Personally, it always seemed to me that even Leroux tried to tie some kind of connection between Meg and Erik, even if it wasn't a romantic one. From the mention of Meg's bones and dark hair in her description (much like Erik, being so skeletal and dark) to her being the one to provide much of the information to Leroux, next to the Persian of course, and right down to Erik's promises of greatness for Meg. Pfft, if I were Meg I'd track him down just to hold him to his promise.
And in the ALW versions, it's just always been so obvious to me, I was surprised the ship wasn't more popular. Meg, the daughter of the woman who knew more about Erik than anyone else. Meg, the dearest friend of Christine, though obviously more down-to-earth. Meg, the one who seems to shout the Phantom's name or spot him at every turn. Meg, the one who finds his mask.
Thank you Sadie, for writing these novels. And hopefully you will inspire a new trend among Phantom authors!
